Aspect ratio is the proportion between width and height. 16:9 is full-HD video and most laptop screens. 9:16 is the inverse — TikTok, Reels, Stories. 1:1 is square (Instagram feed). 4:3 is the classic photo and old TV ratio. 3:2 is what most DSLRs and mirrorless cameras shoot.
