The tool exports a printable PDF sheet sized for 4×6" (10×15 cm) glossy photo paper, with multiple copies of your photo arranged with proper spacing for cutting.
Use any inkjet printer with photo paper. Set the printer to "Photo" or "Best" quality, "Borderless" if available, and turn off any auto-correction or scaling. The PDF is already at 300 DPI and exact print size.
For the EU 35×45 mm preset, you get 8 copies on one sheet. For the US 2×2" preset, you get 4 copies. Cut along the trim marks with scissors or a paper trimmer.
What you need
- An inkjet or laser printer that prints color.
- Glossy photo paper, 4×6 inch or A4. Matte paper is rejected by some authorities and looks poor under the desk lamp at the appointment.
- A sharp pair of scissors or a paper cutter.
- The PDF the editor exports — see below.
Generating the print sheet
Use any of our country preset pages (e.g. US, EU, India) and click the "Download PDF sheet" button after you've cropped your photo. The PDF tiles four to six copies onto one A4 or US Letter page at the exact physical dimensions the spec calls for, with cut guides between copies. The file embeds 300 DPI metadata so the print is dimensionally correct.
Printer settings that matter
- Paper type: select "Photo Paper Glossy" (or equivalent). The driver picks a higher-resolution print mode.
- Scaling: set to 100% or "Actual size", never "Fit to page". Fit-to-page rescales the photo and ruins the dimensions.
- Color management: let the printer handle colors (sRGB).
- Print quality: highest available ("Best", "Photo", or 1200 dpi).
Cutting the prints
Cut along the inner edge of the guide lines, not on the line itself. Authorities reject prints with visible cut marks or uneven edges. A paper cutter gives a cleaner result than scissors; a metal ruler and a craft knife are even better.
Verifying the size
Measure one finished print with a ruler before you commit. A 35×45 mm passport photo really should measure 35×45 mm edge to edge. If it's slightly smaller, your driver scaled the PDF — re-print with "Actual size" / "100%" enabled.
