The DS-160 photo upload accepts a square JPG between 600×600 px and 1200×1200 px, with a plain white or off-white background, taken within the last 6 months. Maximum file size is 240 KB.
The head must be centered and measure 50–69 % of the image height. No glasses, no head covering except for religious reasons. Both ears should be visible.
If the consular appointment also requires a printed photo, use the same source — print at 2×2" on glossy photo paper.
